Bridge-building for Beginners or Improvers
Brush up your Bridge with a unique fun holiday in an exclusive private villa with a pool and its own tennis court in the sunshine of southern France.
Whether you are a raw beginner or just want to improve your play, our all-inclusive Bridge breaks provide a blend of good play, excellent daily instruction from an experienced tutor, organised tournaments and a programme of outings, such as a vineyard or restaurant visit – and of course, a trip to the spectacular medieval City of Carcassonne – a World Heritage site.
No matter what your level of ability, you will go home with a structure that will enable you to play and enjoy any type of hand. Beginners will acquire an all-round grasp of the workings of this fascinating, challenging and social pastime – and those who already play will be able to significantly “up” their game.
During your 5-day/4-night holiday there will be instructional seminars available every morning, play on most afternoons and tournaments on some evenings. If non-playing partners wish to come along, that’s fine. Our flexible approach means that everything – including the trips we organise – is entirely optional.
At French House Party’s lovely country property with its 8 en-suite double or twin bedrooms, we can even organise a boules tournament on our own boules-pitch if required.
Booking at the house is on a first-come-first-served basis. Additional delegates will have nearby accommodation arranged for them, with a chauffeur to bring them to the house before breakfast and take them back to their accommodation after dinner every night. Airport transfers are also provided.
Tutor: June Booty
With 40 years of Bridge-playing at county level and 25 years as a Bridge teacher and competitions tournament director, June Booty also works for the English Bridge Union, training other Bridge teachers in the art of instruction, including tournament direction.
She has a Cert. Ed. teaching qualification and has written a series of aids and booklets about the game. She currently runs successful Bridge clubs and sessions at various towns in South-East England, has worked with “University of the Third Age” groups, on cruise ships and has instructed at places as disparate as the House of Lords and a Young Offenders’ institute.
June has EBUTA professional status and is a member of the EBU’s national panel of Tournament Directors. But above all, she believes, learning Bridge should be fun, and she promotes a friendly, relaxed atmosphere during her sessions, encouraging laughter and merriment alongside serious learning and competition.
